General information about Antalya city center and Kaleici (old town) for wheelchair users:

If we need to give a brief information about downtown Antalya, we can start with the origin of the name `` Antalya '' first. In Hellenistic times, King of Pergamum II. Attalos (159-138 BC), "Go and find me heaven on earth." He was in command of his soldiers. II. Attalos liked the place his soldiers found after long efforts (today's Antalya) and he ordered to establish a port city here, taking into account the strategic importance of the region. The city is called "Ataleia" after this date after the name of its founder Attalos. Later, this name became "Antalya" over time and has survived to the present day.

Antalya is the fifth most populous city in Turkey and It is located on the Mediterranean coast in southern Turkey.

Tourism has the biggest share of Antalya's economy. Then comes agriculture in second position. It has a strong place in the country's agriculture. The region where Antalya is located has hosted many civilizations from prehistoric times to the present day. With this feature, Antalya is one of the most historic cities, located between Europe and Asia, with its 17 different ancient sites within its border. Respectively, Antalya, was under the sovereignty of Lycians, Lydians, Pamphilia, Bergamians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans for many years, and was equipped with many historical monuments of all these civilizations. The "Karain" cave, which is one of the oldest known areas of human settlement in Anatolia, is located in the north-west of Antalya. Its history, which dates back almost 500 thousand years, is based on the ancient Stone Age. Bone remains linked to cave man (homo sapiens, Neanderthal) were found at "Karain". These are the first fossil remains found in Anatolia. Not only in tourism, Antalya has an important place in Turkey as agricultural potential and ecological diversity. Antalya caters to the agricultural needs of the public in Turkey, and it also exports many products abroad such as bananas, tomatoes, oranges.

Antalya, which has increased the value of its brand by hosting many international organizations such as the World Rally Championship between 2003-2008, the G20 Summit in 2015 and the Expo in 2016, has become an important tourist destination in the world. It is a city where wheelchair users, the elderly, the visually impaired and hearing impaired can take their vacations and can participate in many accessible activities and excursions and enjoy their vacations barrier-free. It is a city only 2-3 hours flight from Europe and Russia.

Antalya city center was generally built in accordance with the use of disabled people. There are footpaths on the sidewalks where the visually impaired can find their way with their canes. These sidewalks are also designed to allow people in wheelchairs to roam the streets freely. The traffic lights have buttons for the right of way and give an audible warning when the red light is on.

Antalya city center is ideal for walking for the disabled. The modern city center tram and buses are accessible to wheelchair users and other disabilities. On the other hand, the historic tram in Kaleiçi (Old Town) is not suitable for disabled people. However, it is not possible to go everywhere desired using public transport in the city. Because buses or trams do not cross all streets. Unfortunately, there is no yellow taxi accessible to people with reduced mobility. In this context, we rent our wheelchair accessible cars with and without driver, so that people with disabilities can move freely and comfortably in the city.

In order to make Antalya the best barrier-free city in the world, a beach suitable for wheelchair users and all disabled people has been built on Konyaalti beach in the city center. A dock accessible to the beach has been set up so that wheelchair users can swim on their own. By attaching a special lift for the disabled in this pier, wheelchair users have easy access to the sea. Apart from this, special wheelchair access, a special shower room and changing rooms have been created for disabled people.
