Footsteps of St Paul Turkey Tour – Itinerary

Day 1 – Home to Istanbul

On arrival to Istanbul you will be greeted by our staff and transfer to hotel Overnight stay in Istanbul

Day 2 – Istanbul to Adana

After breakfast we discover  the old city of Istanbul, Topkapi palace, Hippodrome, Blue Mosque is one of the unique example of Ottoman architecture. In the afternoon will have lunch and visit the Hagia Sophia museum.  Transfer to airport in the late afternoon for the flight to Adana Day 3 – Adana to Antioch

In the morning drive to Antakya (Antioch on the Orontes)  to start foot steps of St Paul Turkey christian Tours this is the place where the followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians (Acts 11; 26). Later on visit St. Peter’s Grotto and the magnificent mosaic museum. In the afternoon we will have lunch and proceed to Adana for overnight stay in.

Day 4 – Adana  Tarsus  Cappadocia

After  having a nice breakfast we take departure to Tarsus where Paul was born, There is very limited remains form his period to visit in Tarsus today of the city where Paul lived, seeing St. Paul and Cleopatra arch. Proceed to Cappadocia. We will be on the way . Dinner and overnight stay in Cappadocia. 

Day 5 – Cappadocia full day

Today we are going to explore Cappadocia and visit Goreme open air museum with churches which is decorated with frescoes, traditional local lunch in the afternoon  walk on the panoramic spot where we can view Uchisar castle and Goreme Valley , Pasabag valley, Pigeon valley and onwards to Avanos. (Optional Turkish Night in the cave restaurant). 

Day 6 – Cappadocia to Konya

Today we will take departure to Konya and visit Derinkuyu underground city, Ihlara valley and Sultanhan caravanserai. Lunch on the way overnight stay in Konya. 

Day 7 – Konya  Antioch  Antalya

In  morning we have sightseeing of Konya the ancient Iconium. Konya is the birth place of the philosophy of Whirling Dervishes. Visit the monuments  Mevlana to understand why it is so important. Lunch  in Konya in the afternoon drive to Antioch of Pisidia where St. Paul preached. We will explore the ruins of Basilicas than proceed to Antalya (Attalia) where we will overnight stay in. 

Day 8 – Antalya Perge  Aspendos Antalya

We are going to drive to short distance today. Departure for Perge and Aspendos where Paul and Barnabas stopped over on their way to and from Antioch.  Lunch will be at Aspendos. In the afternoon return to Antalya where we will overnight stay in. Day 9 – Antalya  Colossae  Leaodicea  Pamukkale

In the morning we departure for Colossae takes about over four hours  We are going to explore the remains of Colossae ancient city. Lunch on the way and proceed to  Leaodicea one of the Seven Churches, visit the Odeon, the theatre and gymnasium, than drive to Pamukkale where we will (Hierapolis) overnight stay in. 

Day 10 – Hierapolis Philadelphia Sardis  Izmir Kusadasi

Departure for  Hierapolis with its Necropolis, baths, theatre. Proceed to Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, and then drive to Sardis  The capital city of ancient Lydia, Temple of Artemis (Diana converted to a Church), the Synagogue and the Gymnasium. Sardis is location of one of the Seven Churches of revelation. Drive to  Izmir ancient Smyrna we will have a short sightseeing tour of Izmir than visit ancient Smyrna one of the oldest inhabited church of the revelation. Overnight stay in Kusadasi. 

Day 11 – Kusadasi Ephesus Miletus Kusadasi

Today will be the highlight of the week , Departure to ancient Ephesus to explore the monuments such as Theatre where St. Paul preached , Library, Odeon, Double Church where the Third Ecumenical Council was held in 431.  Later on  explore the House of  Mother Mary and St. John’s Basilica. Lunch  will be in Selcuk town In the afternoon will drive to Miletus, That was visited by St. Paul twice. overnight stay in Kusadasi. Day 12 – Kusadasi Thyatira Pergamon Alexandra Troas

Early departure to Thyatira, Then we drive to Pergamon to see Acropolis; which is called the throne of Satan by St John After lunch, we will continue to Alexandra Troas via . Alexandria Troas was a port city locates on the north west coast of ancient Turkey. It is dates back to the 1000 B.C While St Paul Staying in Troas he had a dream in which he saw a vision of a man requesting him to come over to Macedonia to help them overnight stay in Assos.

Day 13 – Canakkale Troy Istanbul

Early  in the morning departure to visit the legendary city of Troy, cross the Dardanelles  by ferry,  proceed to Istanbul lunch on the way Overnight Stay in Istanbul Breakfast lunch and Farewell Dinner 

Day 14 – Istanbul to home
