Hair transplant can be defined as "the permanent solution to hair loss". A hair transplant operation can be expressed as: a microsurgical procedure performed in a hospital surgical setting. More information in the description below.
The concept "microsurgical operation" implies that; a hair transplant will be performed with minimal surgery unlike traditional surgery.
A hair transplant is an effective and permanent solution for people suffering from "male pattern baldness", also called androgenetic alopecia. Apart from these, people who have scars or have lost hair due to various types of hair diseases can also safely undergo hair transplant.
A Complete Pain Relief Method In Hair Transplant;
Thanks to the use of sedation administered under the direct supervision of our anesthesiologist, you will no longer feel any pain when administering local anesthesia before hair transplant.
As a result, you will have a more comfortable and painless hair transplant experience. Even though hair transplants are generally considered to be painless procedures, this new method will help our patients with needle phobia feel comfortable, allowing them to relax during the procedure.
For this reason, the pain level that was currently at a minimum is now completely eliminated.
What is sedation?
Sedation is the action of producing a state of calm or sleep under controlled administration of sedatives, monitoring the depth of sedation with the types of drugs used and the amount given tailored specifically to the needs of each patient.
Should I be sedated?
Sedation is effective and safe even in young children and as we mentioned earlier, it ensures the patient a pain free discomfort free hair transplant procedure. But then again, we continue to offer sedation free hair transplant procedures for patients who do not prefer. sedation to be administered.
FUE hair transplant operation;
Hair transplants have come a very long way from the early days, but it wasn't until the mid-1990s that hair transplantation began to take shape, performed with techniques that are practiced today in the world. whole world.
Hair transplants performed with the FUT technique in the 90s were replaced by the FUE method which was developed in the early 2000s and introduced in 2005.
Even though the technique has been in continuous development with further refinement, the principles basis of FUE remain the same. Today, the technique continues to be considered the gold standard in hair transplant surgery.
The most advanced technique in hair transplantation is the FUE technique.
Today, hair loss sufferers can receive natural looking hair with the latest modern FUE technique, the gold standard in hair restoration.
The main difference of using FUE technique for hair transplant is that it leaves no scars and has a shorter recovery time. The success of operations has also increased due to advancements in medical devices used in the FUE technique.
The FUE technique can be performed with a variety of different instruments. As a result, the technique is known by several different names.
Hair transplant techniques;
Classic FUE (via micro-motors)
Robotic FUE
DHI technique (FUE performed with Choi implants)
Sapphire FUE (FUE made with Sapphire blades)
For example, the technique of FUE hair transplantation with the use of sapphire blades is an important technique in terms of allowing the transplantation of a large number of hair follicles in a single session.
The difference between cllastic FUE and sapphire FUE can be explained by the fact that open channels with sapphire, which is a much smoother material, heal much faster and leave less scar.
The DHI technique is also distinguished by the tightening of targeted hair transplants
With this hair transplant technique using Choi needles, natural and satisfying results can be achieved.
Harvesting hair follicles;
Ensuring significant aesthetic success during the hair follicle harvesting process is due to the distinctive aspect of the FUE technique. It was this innovation that made FUE popular and preferred over FUT.
The FUT technique involves removing a small strip of tissue from the back of the head and extracting individual follicular units from that strip, while in FUE, each follicular unit is taken individually directly from the scalp through small circular incisions. . In this way, the risk of injury is eliminated.
Depending on the length of each follicular unit, it is important to use needles that are 0.7mm to 0.8mm in diameter or if the follicular unit graft contains 3-4-5 hair needles. a diameter of 0.8mm Should be used.
The sharpness of the needles and the fact that they are for single use only are the elements that have a considerable impact on the success of the operation.
Another important factor is to extract the hair follicles with precise precision in order to avoid any follicular damage.
For example; If the person undergoing hair transplant has very curly hair, using a curved punch called a u-graft during the process of removing follicular units, the risk of follicular damage can be eliminated.
All of these are improvements planned by the doctor before the operation, which are tailored specifically to each patient's condition.
Preparation of the beneficiary's site;
In the classic FUE technique, the incisions are created using steel blades. With these slotted blades, incisions must be created with precise precision, considering the natural direction of hair growth.
This will allow the transplanted grafts to grow in their natural direction.
While making slits in the receiving area, it is very important to follow the direction and the angel of the existing hair in that area.
The FUE technique uses steel blades to create incisions in the recipient site. During the operation, after creating hundreds of incisions, these steel blades must be replaced with new ones.
On the other hand, such a problem will not be encountered with sapphire FUE blades, as they are smoother and sharper.
For each patient, depending on the thickness of the hair follicle, a few blade tips are sufficient. Again, slides should only be used on an individual patient in a single procedure.
Transplantation of hair follicles;
The last step, which is to transplant the hair follicles; is the process of transplanting follicles one by one at an angle of 40-45 degrees, into the incisions that have been created in directions that allow precise placement.
The three phases have some specific technicalities and the most important technicality in all the stages is certainly the experience.
FUE is a hair transplant technique that leaves no traces or requires stitches.
Beard transplant;
Beard transplant, just like normal hair transplant, transplanted hair is removed from the back area of the head called the “donor area”.
The collected hair transplants are naturally implanted in the required areas of the face;
The areas of the cheeks, sideburns, mustaches and jaws can be transplanted.
Beard transplant is treated to cover the empty areas of the beard or to give it more density.
If the patient has no hair in the beard, the doctor suggests the ideal case to the patient after checking the donor area and the skin type.
Eyebrow transplant;
The eyebrow holds an important place in the face. Where they are in the middle, they ensure the integrity of the face. There is a difference between hair loss and eyebrow fall.
Day of arrival:
The patient will be met by the clinic representative and escorted to the hotel. Before arriving at the hotel, the patient is taken to the hospital for a blood test, which takes no more than a few minutes.
Day of operation:
On the day of the operation, the patient arrives at the clinic and meets with the hair transplant specialist. The specialist asks the patient to enter some personal information, then the patient is escorted to the diagnostic room.
During the diagnosis, the hair transplant specialist analyzes the patient's condition and plans the areas to be implanted. The specialist begins to draw the hairline and specifies the areas to be transplanted.
After approval of the hairline, the hair is shaved and the patient prepares for the operation.
The operation takes between 5 and 8 hours depending on the degree of baldness.
Pad
After the operation is completed, the donor area will be dressed with gauze to protect it from infection.
Rest after the operation
Before arriving at the hotel, you will be given a light snack and a pain reliever tablet.
After that, the coordinator working at the clinic will accompany you to the hotel.
You need to rest well and drink plenty of water.
Be sure to follow all instructions given by the clinic and if in doubt contact the coordinator immediately for assistance.
Second day (dressing removal):
The day after the hair transplant operation, patients come to the clinic for a brief follow-up to remove the dressing.
Third day (wash day):
On the third day, patients come to the clinic for the first scalp wash.
Before washing the scalp, a special moisturizing lotion is applied to the scalp for 30 minutes.
After that, the nurse washes the hair very gently with a special medical shampoo.
The patient is given all the necessary instructions on how to wash their hair for the next 2 weeks.
Patients can travel immediately after washing their hair or stay an extra day. After that, we drop them off at the airport and make sure they arrive safely.
Precautions before surgery:
1-2 weeks before your hair transplant:
Refrain from smoking 2 weeks before your scheduled hair transplant appointment. Smoking, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape, and hookah, could interfere with the supply of oxygen to the blood and possibly prevent blood supply to the hair follicles.
Reduce all alcohol consumption one week before the operation.
Do not take any medicines such as blood thinners or vitamins for at least a week before the operation.
Stop drinking coffee a week before the operation to avoid the risk of bleeding.
The day before the operation:
Get a good night's sleep the day before the operation so that your body can rest enough to continue the day without exhausting yourself.
Try to eat a full breakfast on the day of your operation as much as possible, while avoiding caffeine.
On the day of the operation, wear loose or comfortable clothing that should not be taken off your head. Preferably a buttoned top in front.
Postoperative care and guidelines:
Smoking and alcohol are prohibited after hair transplantation. So stay away two weeks after the transplant
Stay away from the dryer for at least two months. After that, you can use it over low heat, but not directly on the transplanted hair.
Avoid strenuous physical activities and sports such as jogging, soccer, weight training so as not to damage the follicles.
Sex should be avoided one week after the operation.
Do not bend or sleep on your sides for the first 5 days so as not to increase swelling.
You should not cover your head after a hair transplant for at least two weeks.
Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours for the first two months.
Common side effects after hair transplantation and how to relieve them
Most people who are interested in hair transplants keep talking about the negative effects of the procedure.
Everyone knows that any surgery, no matter how difficult or simple, has side effects that can take some time to recover, right?
But with hair transplant in Turkey, it is very different. Because there are no risks or damages associated with the procedure and the recovery period after the operation does not last long.
But that doesn't mean that this procedure doesn't have minor side effects that go away after the first week of the operation. These side effects include:
Bleeding:
Minor bleeding after hair transplantation usually occurs the night after the operation. You will notice blood stains on the pillow from movement while sleeping.
To stop the bleeding, lightly press the donor area with sterilized gauze. But be careful not to lift the gauze or rub your scalp so as not to displace the hair follicles.
Liquid discharges from the donor area:
On the second day after the operation, many people notice a discharge of pink fluid mixed with blood which worries them.
But there is nothing to worry about, because it is the serum that has been injected into the scalp. These liquids are eliminated within 48 hours of the operation.
Swelling:
The most common side effect after hair transplantation is swelling of the forehead. Due to gravity, it could travel up to the eyes and cheeks.
The swelling is caused by the discharge of serum from the scalp. Sleeping in the wrong position or moving around frequently during sleep increases swelling.
To avoid it, it is advisable to lift your head during sleep and not to bend too frequently.
You can also apply cold compresses to the forehead, under the eyes, and the cheeks to reduce the appearance of swelling. If you follow these instructions, it won't be long before the swelling goes away. Within 4-6 days, your face will return to normal.
Itching in the donor area:
Some people experience itching in the donor area during the first month, which is quite normal.
Some may not tolerate this feeling, in which case a special ointment to relieve the itching is prescribed by the clinic.
Numbness of the scalp:
In the first few weeks after hair transplantation, patients experience numbness in the scalp. This is due to the effect of the anesthetic during the operation. It won't last long until you gradually feel your scalp again.
Buttons:
In some cases, pimples appear in the donor area behind the head. These pimples will go away on their own if they are small.
But most of the time these pimples are due to inflammation associated with folliculitis, a sign of hair growth.
Note: The side effects mentioned above, such as bleeding, swelling, redness, itching, etc. If you notice that it has taken longer than this period, you should immediately contact the clinic. As it could be an indicator of infection.
Hair growth delay after hair transplantation
Hair transplant results vary from person to person depending on the type of hair and the rate of growth. Some people say they get results within 8 months, while others may wait up to 12 or 18 months for final results.
This section will be devoted to clarifying the stages of hair growth through a simplified hair transplant schedule.
Period of time | Hair growth stages | |
1 | 1 week after hair transplant | During this time, the side effects mentioned above will appear, such as swelling and redness. At this stage, no hair growth is observed. |
2 | 10 days after hair transplant | Scabs that appear on the scalp begin to fall off with washing your hair every day as directed. |
3 | 2 weeks after hair transplant | The scabs are completely removed and the transplanted hair begins to appear. At this point, the hair will be short as if it had been shaved recently. |
4 | One month after hair transplant | The transplanted hair is starting to fall out and this is normal. You don't have to worry as this is a new cycle of hair growth. |
5 | Two months after the hair transplant | The transplanted hair falls out completely. This can be a little frustrating because the hair will look the same as it did before the operation. You just have to be patient and wait for the next step. |
6 | Three months after hair transplant | From the third month, the transplanted hair begins to grow back. This is the start of a new phase in your life. |
7 | Four months after hair transplant | After 4 months of hair transplant surgery, don't expect your hair to grow with high density. The hair is always thin and brittle because it takes a little while for it to get stronger and fuller. |
8 | 5 months after hair transplant | The length of the newly transplanted hair is now around 2 inches and the hair is thicker than the previous period. Some patients get hair transplant results after just 6 months. It’s impressive, but it doesn’t apply to everyone. |
9 | One year after hair transplant | At this point, most patients will see the end result. The transplanted hair after a year becomes longer and thicker. You can now treat it like your normal hair by shaving, styling and trimming it. |
