CHECK LIST: TO DO BEFORE DEPARTURE
Are you planning a trip abroad, a vacation or a business trip? This checklist is for you.
Before you think about packing your travel bag, make sure you have thought of the formalities and everything you need to organize before you go abroad.
Go through this list carefully before you go, to make sure you don't forget any essential steps. Watch out for deadlines, don't do it at the last minute!

Important documents
Passport
Check that your passport is valid 3 to 6 months after the expected return date
If you need to create a biometric passport, pay attention to the deadlines (4 weeks minimum)! You can do this at any town hall, some have lower waiting times.

Visas
Find out about the necessary visas, their cost and how to issue them
In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Beware of delays which can be very long (from 1 to 4 weeks depending on the Country).

Driver's license
For all the countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area, the national license is valid.
The international driving license is not necessarily required in countries outside Europe, check with the embassy or consulate concerned.
Abroad, the international license must always be accompanied by your national license.
Health documents
Your international vaccination record, to take place at the vaccination institute or to ask your doctor
Prescriptions that justify the treatments you are taking with you in your luggage and that can help you out in the event of loss or forgetting of a treatment.
Your health record especially for young passengers
Take a medical certificate of aptitude for sport or a particular practice (diving, parachuting ...)
Scans and prints
Remember to have a copy of all your documents.
The ideal is to store them on your phone, on a "cloud" or in your e-mail in case of loss (I use the "Google Drive" application to store my important travel documents. I download to my smartphone the photo of my passport and my plane ticket reservations to access them even without an internet connection.
If you are not sure if you can access your documents while traveling, you should plan to print copies of your identity papers and other important documents
Visa Bank card
It is imperative to have an international card (Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard, American Express or Diners Club) in the European Union and in the rest of the world.
Remember to check the expiration date of the card in the event of a long trip
Consider increasing the limits for withdrawals and payments from your bank if necessary
Take out the necessary insurance
For a stay in Europe, it is preferable to apply for the European Health Insurance Card (CEAM).
For a stay in the rest of the world, it is necessary to take out the following insurance:
- Civil liability abroad
- Travel Modification / Cancellation Guarantee
- Health assistance / Repatriation
- Theft / loss of your luggage and valuables
