Cosmetic rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty is cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the nose. This procedure aims to change the shape of the nasal septum either partially or completely. It is best to wait until the end of growth before a rhinoplasty, usually between 15 and 16 years. It is also important to ensure the psychological maturity of young patients.
Consultation :
A complete analysis of the nose is performed (aesthetic and functional).
Respiratory problems or discomforts are sought, additional examinations are prescribed (deviation of the nasal septum, hypertrophy of turbinates, dysfunction of nasal valves, etc.).
Digital photos are taken of every part of the nose and face (forehead, chin, etc.).
Computer simulations are carried out so as to lead to the development of a common project between the surgeon and the patient.
It will be determined whether it is necessary to simultaneously perform a genioplasty (advancement, retraction or augmentation of the chin), or a surgery on the forehead.
The surgeon will then give his opinion on the most suitable type of rhinoplasty for his patient.
The intervention:
Duration of the intervention: from 1h30 to 4h, depending on the complexity.
Duration of hospitalization: 1 day and 1 night, but day hospitalization is sometimes possible. Hospitalization takes place on the morning of the operation on an empty stomach.
Type of anesthesia: general, most often.
Before the operation: certain drugs should not be taken 10 days before the operation: aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-coagulants, etc.
End of the operation: a resin splint is put on the nose and must be kept for six days.
